August 08, 2007 -- UNITED WAY KICK-OFF 2007-2008 CAMPAIGN Jim Normandin, Campaign Chair, Publisher TH & Vice President of Newspapers and Woodward Printing Services for Woodward Communications, Inc., kicked off the United Way Services, Inc. 2007-2008 Campaign with a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, August 8th at 8:00 a.m. in the ParkView Room at the Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino. The goal of this year’s campaign is $1,820,000. This effort will help fund 15 agencies with more than 150 programs, which provide services to over 240,000 residents. The members of the Campaign Cabinet were introduced by Jim Normandin which include: Carol Townsend, Top Firms Division Chair, recently retired CEO of Sedona Staffing Services; Russell Knight, Professional Division Chair, Mercy Medical Center, Chad Huntington, Business Division Chair, AY McDonald, Penny Wills, Public Employee Chair, NICC; Jim Collins, Education Division Chair, Loras College; Tom Giese, Residential Division Chair, The Giese Companies; Dan White, Labor Campaign Rep., United Auto Workers Local #94; Pat & Jan Melloy, Leadership Circle Chairs, John Deere Dubuque Works; Christina Rader, Public Relations Chair, Premier Bank; Bill Skemp, Business Development Chair, Mike Donohue, Board of Trustees Chair & Campaign Advisory Chair, US Bank. Mike Donohue, Board of Trustees Chair, US Bank, welcomed everyone to the Annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast by introducing Jim Normandin, Campaign Chair. Immediately following the City-Wide Campaign Kickoff, Carol Townsend, Top Firms Division Chair, kicked off her division with a plea to be as passionate as possible with your donation this year. Christina Rader, representing the Public Relations Committee acknowledged members of the committee and thanked individuals responsible for their contribution of time and material at no cost to United Way. Monsignor Robert Vogl, blessed the community campaign. Video participants, Mike Lippert and Heidi Goin, of a United Way funded agency, American Red Cross, were graciously acknowledged for their presence. Cindy, a client from Catholic Charities shared the effectiveness of a Catholic Charities counseling program. The counseling has helped restore her self-esteem to comfortably address the nearly 150 attendees who helped kickoff the campaign. Several Pacesetter Firms have kicked off their campaigns, which include: John Deere Dubuque Works, Nordstrom, Perfection Oil, Rockwell Collins-Bellevue, Sam’s Club Dubuque, Spacejoist-Dyersville, US Bank, United Way Agencies, United Way Office, and Walmart-Dubuque, Galena, Manchester, and Maquoketa.
