UNITED WAY 2009-2010 CAMPAIGN BREAKFAST

Carol Townsend, and Tom Giese, The Giese Companies, Campaign Co-Chairs, launched the United Way Services, Inc. 2009-2010 Campaign with a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, August 5th at 8:00 a.m. in the Harbor/Bridge Room at the Diamond Jo Casino.  The goal of this year’s campaign is $1,900,000.  This effort will help fund more than 150 programs provided by 14 agencies and 2 special project funds, to over 200,000 residents. Several Pacesetter Firms have launched their campaigns. Encouraging results have started to come in.

The members of the Campaign Cabinet were introduced by Carol Townsend and Tom Giese which include: Chad Huntington, Top Firms Division Chair, AY McDonald; Gary Dolphin, Professional  & Residential Division Chair, US Bank; Judy Wolf, Business Division Chair, John Deere Dubuque Works; Sr. Joanne Burrows, Public Employee Division Chair, Clarke College; Donna Loewen, Education Division Chair, Lincoln Elementary School; Dan White, Labor Campaign Rep., United Auto Workers Local #94; Pat & Jan Melloy, Leadership Circle Chairs, John Deere Dubuque Works; Mary Beth Theis, Public Relations Chair, Stone Cliff Winery;  Bill Skemp, Business Development Chair; Doug Stillings, Board of Trustees Chair, Dubuque Bank & Trust; & Jim Normandin, Campaign Advisory Chair, Telegraph Herald/WCI.

Doug Stillings, Board of Trustees Chair, welcomed everyone to the Annual Campaign Breakfast by introducing Carol Townsend and Tom Giese, Campaign Co-Chairs. Chad Huntington, Top Firms Division Chair, launched his division with a plea to be as passionate as possible with your donation this year. Mary Beth Theis, representing the Public Relations Committee acknowledged members of the committee and thanked individuals responsible for their contribution of time and material at no cost to United Way. Monsignor Robert Vogl, blessed the community campaign. Andrew Kahler, John Deere Dubuque Works, shared his experience touring United Way funded agencies. Charley Cook, Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, (Big Brother) and Brendon Ries (Little Brother) talked about their involvement in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program offered by Hillcrest Family Services.
